Most NPC Friends & Family scholarships open each year on October 1st (for Spring semester applications) and on March 1 (for Fall semester applications).

NPC Friends & Family Scholarships:
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY? (click to expand)
To apply for an NPC Friends and Family Scholarship:
- You must be degree-seeking at NPC. The degree plan on file indicates the applicant’s goal is an associate degree or certificate of proficiency.
- Demonstrate financial need. Need is prioritized for this scholarship.
- Enrolled for 6 or more credits at NPC during the semester of award.
- Cumulative Grade-Point Average of 2.0 or better at the time of the award. (See individual scholarship flyers for GPA requirements)
- High school diploma or GED® at the time of application.
- Not in overpayment status at NPC. Over the credit limit OK.
- Some scholarships are designated exclusively for Native American Students - Navajo, Hopi, White Mountain Apache. Tribal affiliation (Certificate of Indian Blood) may be verified at the time of award for awardees of these scholarships.

HOW DO YOU APPLY? (click to expand)
You will need to gather the following application documents, and save them as a SINGLE, PDF FILE in the following order:
1. Essay – 500 words or fewer – Addressing the following:
- What are your career goals;
- What are your educational goals;
- What resources you have to fund your education making you qualified to receive this scholarship; and
- Why the scholarship is needed, and specifically how it will be used.

The key to the scholarship essay is that it is a personal narrative, reflecting your experiences and goals. DO NOT USE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, SUCH AS CHAT GPT, to write your essay. It is important that your personal voice come through!
2. Demonstration of financial status as evidenced by Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) PAGE 1 ONLY or letter of award or denial from NPC Financial Aid Office or MyNPC page.
3. Copy of your unofficial transcript from https://mynpc.npc.edu/ics indicating your degree intent; students without an NPC transcript must submit a degree plan (see academic advisor).
4. Two letters of recommendation (Optional, but strongly suggested!)
Scholarship recipients may re-apply for awards in subsequent academic years (not to exceed two consecutive years).

Established by AndyVon in their commitment to advancing the academic success of NPC's Native American students.
NOTE: Awardee must write a letter of thanks to “Dear AndyVon”, and email it to betsy.wilson@npc.edu, before funds are disbursed to awardee. Scholarship recipients may re-apply for this award in subsequent academic years (not to exceed two consecutive semesters).
Arvin Palmer, Ph.D. Memorial Scholarship | Award Amount: $1,000 - Opens March
Arvin Palmer, Ph.D., Memorial Scholarship Award Amount: $1,000
Established by the friends and family of Dr. Arvin Palmer, former Vice President of Northland Pioneer College, in memory of him and in honor of his lifelong devotion to education and community service. $1,000 toward tuition, books, and fees for the academic year to current-year graduating seniors from Snowflake High School. $500 is awarded in the fall semester with the spring-semester award based on continued academic progress.
Charles E. Lisitzky Memorial Scholarship | Award Amount: $500 - Opens Oct & March
Charles E. Lisitzky Memorial Scholarship Award Amount: $500
Charles E. Lisitizky was a longtime resident of Holbrook, Arizona, and an advocate of lifelong education. This scholarship was established in his memory to assist Native American students in their pursuit of a college degree. One scholarship is awarded to one NPC student/semester: $500 toward tuition, books and fees.
Claude Millet Endfield ECD Scholarship | Award Amount: $1,000 - Opens Oct & March
Claude Millet Endfield Early Childhood Development Scholarship Award Amount: $1,000
Established by the friends of Claude Endfield to honor her long career and her service and devotion to NPC Early Childhood Education students and young children across northern Arizona. $1,000 toward tuition, books, and fees for the *FALL-SPRING academic year.
Corky Elikann Scholarship for Alchesay High School | Award Amount: $1,000 - Opens March

This is scholarship is presented in loving memory of Corky Elikann by her family. $2000 toward tuition, books, and fees for the academic year - $1000 awarded in the fall semester with the spring-semester award based on continued satisfactory academic progress.
Doris Reed Nursing Scholarship | Award Amount: $1,000 - Opens Oct & March
Doris Reed Nursing Scholarship Award Amount: $1,000
This scholarship is awarded by NPC Friends & Family. It was established by the family of Doris Reed in honor of her career of fifty-plus years in Nursing. This scholarship will provide $1.000 toward tuition, books, fees and related expenses to students enrolled in an NPC Nursing and Allied Health degree program.

Fill The Gaps Scholarship Award Amount: $1,000
$1,000 toward tuition, books, and fees for the FALL semester and $1000 for the SPRING semester. One scholarship to a student at each campus, and one scholarship to a student at each center each semester. NOTE: This is a scholarship for students who are receiving the PELL grant but can demonstrate financial need.
- If you have not done so, file your FAFSA ASAP! You must provide a financial aid award letter to receive this scholarship.

Established by friends of former NPC President, Dr. Jeanne Swarthout, commemorating her retirement and honoring her career in education and her years of service and dedication to Northland Pioneer College.

This scholarship is awarded by NPC Friends & Family. It was established by the parents of Jennifer Lee Witt, former professor of English and Creative Writing, in memory of her and her devotion to the students of Northland Pioneer College.
Joanne Thompson Memorial Scholarship for Cedar Hills | Award Amount: $1,000 - Opens March
Joanne Thompson Memorial Scholarship for Cedar Hills Award Amount: $1,000
The Joanne Thompson Memorial Scholarship was established by the Cedar Hills Senior Center in loving memory of one of its founders, Joanne Thompson, a fiercely independent, talented, and capable “pioneer” lady. A total of $2,000 toward tuition, books, and fees is awarded for the academic year; $1000 in the fall semester with a spring semester award based on continued satisfactory academic progress.
- This scholarship is awarded to an NPC full-time student who is a resident of the Cedar Hills area: Old Woodruff Road and Snowflake/Taylor city limits to the west, and Highway 180A. Concho/Concho Valley limits to the east; Aztec Road to the south, and Woodruff/Hay Hollow Roads to the north.
- PLEASE INCLUDE: Two letters of recommendation must be attached. One recommendation is required from a high school or college instructor, and one from a recommender of the applicant’s choice. Recommenders should reference the applicant by name in their letter.

This scholarship was provided by the late Dr. Jon C. Graff, a great champion of NPC students.
- Applicants must have the recommendation of at least one representative from NPC faculty or high school faculty, as evidenced by a letter of support. Letters must be uploaded with application documents to the application form.

Jon Graff, Ph.D., University Bound Scholarship Award Amount: $1,000
$1000 toward tuition, books and fees. One scholarship to one NPC student/semester pursuing UNIVERSITY TRANSFER will be awarded. This is a need-based scholarship, designed for academically talented students who have unmet financial need.
- Applicants must have the recommendation of at least two individuals, including NPC faculty or staff or high school faculty or staff, as evidenced by letters of support.
Leg Up Scholarship | Award Amount: $1,000 - Opens Oct & March
Leg Up Scholarship Award Amount: $1,000
Need is prioritized for this scholarship, for students who are ineligible for the PELL, but who can demonstrate financial need.
- You must have CURRENT written proof from the NPC Financial Aid Office that you are NOT eligible to receive the Pell grant. Please request and obtain this proof (financial aid denial letter) before applying for this scholarship.
- If you are unable to complete the FAFSA, due to circumstances beyond your control, please contact Betsyann Wilson at 928-536-6245 prior to submitting your application.
Mary Kay Smith Lindy Nursing Scholarship | Award Amount: $500 - Opens Oct & March
Mary Kay Smith Lindy Nursing Scholarship Award Amount: $500
This scholarship was established by the family of “Kay” Smith Lindy in memory of her lifelong career as a nurse. Provides $500 toward tuition, books, fees, and related expenses to a Native American student enrolled in the NPC Nursing Program for the academic year.
- This Scholarship is for NPC Native American nursing students, either enrolled in (second-year) or accepted for (first year) the NPC ADN program.
Michael T. Mariner Memorial Scholarship | Award Amount: $1,000 - Opens March
Michael T. Mariner Memorial Scholarship Award Amount: $1,000
This scholarship is offered to NPC students who are degree-seeking in Computer Information Systems (CIS), or another computer-related degree. The proud family of Michael T. Mariner is offering this Memorial Scholarship. Michael T. Mariner was a 1985 graduate of Northland Pioneer College with an Associate of Applied Science in Business/Computer Science. He received a Special Commendation Award during graduation for his commitment and persistence to successfully reach his educational goal. He was admired for his courage and willingness to apply humor regardless of his limitations.

This scholarship is established by Shannon Newman, in loving memory of her husband, William Newman, and her daughter, Fiona Kim Newman. $1000 toward tuition, books, and fees for the academic year - $500 awarded in the fall semester with a spring-semester award based on continued satisfactory academic progress.

This scholarship is presented by The House of Show Low as their way to give back to our White Mountain Communities!
$2000 toward tuition, books, and fees for the academic year - $1000 awarded in the fall semester with a spring-semester award based on continued satisfactory academic progress.
- Three graduating high school seniors who will be attending NPC in the fall semester following graduation will be awarded per year: One from Blue Ridge, one from Show Low, and one from Snowflake High School.
- Two letters of recommendation must be attached. One recommendation is required from a high school or college instructor, and one from a recommender of the applicant’s choice. Recommenders should reference the applicant by name in their letter.

Established by the family of Prescott Winslow in memory of his devotion to the students of Winslow High School and Northland Pioneer College. At least one scholarship for one NPC student for the Fall semester: $1,000 toward tuition, books, and fees for the FALL semester.

Tim Shove Memorial Scholarship for Round Valley High School Award Amount: $1,000
The Tim Shove Memorial Scholarship for Round Valley High School was established by Terry L. Shove, in memory of her husband Tim, in honor of his lifelong devotion to education. $1,000 toward tuition, books and fees is awarded for the academic year; $500 for the fall semester with spring-semester award based on continued satisfactory academic progress.
- Must be a current year graduate of Round Valley High School planning to attend NPC full-time.
US Military Veterans Scholarship | Award Amount: $500 - Opens Oct & March
US Military Veterans Scholarship Award Amount: $500
This scholarship is awarded by NPC Friends & Family. One scholarship is awarded to US Military Veterans, their spouses, and dependents, for tuition, books and fees for the FALL and one for the SPRING semester. Students must reapply each semester. Students may win the scholarship not more than two consecutive semesters.
- This scholarship is for VA students: US Military Veterans, their spouses, or their dependents – All Chapters eligible Veteran students NOT using GI Bill© educational benefits.
- YOU MUST Submit all required VA documentation to NPC VA Certifying Official at veterans@npc.edu.
White Mountain Women's Club Scholarships | Award Amount: $3,400 - Opens March
White Mountain Women's Club Scholarships Award Amount: $3,400
Two $3,400 scholarships for academic year 2023-2024 ($1700 per semester, based on continuing eligibility), to FULL-TIME degree-seeking students attending Northland Pioneer College’s White Mountain Campus. This scholarship may not be combined with any other NPCFF scholarships.

White Mountain Women’s Club Doris Powers Scholarship Award Amount: $1,200
Honoring the memory of Doris Powers, a lifelong learner, educator and advocate for the power of education. One $1200 scholarship for the FALL semester, presented by the White Mountain Women’s Club to degree-seeking students attending Northland Pioneer College’s White Mountain Campus.
