$1000 ($500 per semester) toward tuition, books and fees for the 2024-25 academic year; $500 per semester with second-semester award based on continued satisfactory academic progress.
This scholarship is offered to NPC students who are degree seeking in Computer Information Systems (CIS), or other computer-related degree.
The proud family of Michael T. Mariner is offering this Memorial Scholarship. Michael T. Mariner was a 1985 graduate of Northland Pioneer College with an Associate of Applied Science in Business/Computer Science. He received a Special Commendation Award during graduation for his commitment and persistence to successfully reach his educational goal. He was admired for his courage and willingness to apply humor regardless of his limitations.
Who is eligible to apply?
Students who meet the following criteria:
- Degree seeking in Computer Information Systems (CIS) or another computer-related degree at NPC.
- Demonstrate financial need. Need is prioritized for this scholarship.
- Enrolled for 6 or more credits at NPC during the semester of award, credits must apply to declared degree.
- Cumulative Grade-Point Average of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
- Must be in good academic standing: not over the credit limit, in default of a student loan or in overpayment status.
How do you apply?
Submit all application documents electronically to NPCFF@npc.edu. Paper applications will not be accepted; your campus office or advisor can assist you in scanning the documents as required: Attach all application documents as a single .pdf file in the order given below:

2. Essay – 500 words or fewer – Describing:
o What are your career goals;
o What are your educational goals;
o Why the scholarship is needed, and how it will be used to help you achieve your goals.

3. Your unofficial transcript from https://mynpc.npc.edu/ics indicating your degree intent; students without an NPC transcript must submit a degree plan (see academic advisor).
4. Demonstration of financial status for the 24-25 academic year, as evidenced by Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) PAGE 1 ONLY or letter of award or denial from NPC Financial Aid Office or MyNPC page.
The key to the scholarship essay is that it is a personal narrative, reflecting your experiences and goals. DO NOT USE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, SUCH AS CHAT GPT, to write your essay. It is important that your personal voice come through!
