SNAP CAN is a free and voluntary program at NPC for students receiving SNAP benefits.
Services are provided through SNAP CAN Providers who are dedicated to connecting program participants to the tools and resources they need to overcome barriers and obtain employment.
ADVANTAGES OF SNAP CAN:
- Transportation: Gas/Uber gift cards, vehicle/bike repairs,
- Education: Test fees, books, training materials, fingerprinting, etc.
- Living Expenses: Utility assistance.
- Monthly Check-ins: Meet monthly with an NPC SNAP CAN representative for additional support.
> AM I ELIGIBLE FOR SNAP CAN?
Eligibility:
To voluntarily participate in SNAP CAN:
- You must be 16 years of age or older.
- You must be receiving SNAP benefits.
- You must not be receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Requirements:
To receive SNAP CAN benefits:
- You must meet with your NPC SNAP CAN representative once a month.
- You must participate in Employment and Training services (e.g., education, training, etc.)
> WHAT MIGHT SNAP CAN PAY FOR?
NOTE: all services are not available at once
- Internet or Cell Phone Support Service
- Gas Cards
- Utilities (Limited to a 2-month support service)
- Work and Training Tools (equipment, tools safety clothing, uniforms)
> IS SNAP CAN A LOAN?
NO SNAP CAN money is not a loan and doesn’t need to be paid back.
> NOT RECEIVING SNAP BENEFITS BUT INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE?
NPC's College and Career Preparation Classrooms are intake centers for students and any members of the public who need to apply for SNAP benefits.
