Who is eligible to apply?
NPC Native American nursing students, Navajo, Hopi, or White Mountain Apache,* either enrolled in (second-year) or accepted for (first year) the NPC Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program who meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrate financial need. Need is strongly considered for this scholarship.
- Enrolled full-time in the NPC ADN program (full-time, based on criteria for NPC ADN program.)
- Cumulative Grade-Point Average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
- High school diploma or GED®.
- Not in overpayment status at NPC. Over the credit limit: Contact NPCFF@npc.edu
- Students who have previously obtained a Bachelor's degree should contact NPCFF@npc.edu.
- Students currently in high school at the time of award are not eligible to apply.
*Tribal affiliation (Certificate of Indian Blood) may be verified at the time of award.
How do I apply?
Attach all application documents as directed on the online application form.
Application documents:
1. Essay – 500 words or fewer – Addressing the following:
- Why did you choose nursing as your career goal, and what kind of nurse you ultimately want to be;
- What are your educational goals related to nursing;
- What resources you have to fund your education making you qualified to receive this scholarship; and
- Why is the scholarship needed, and specifically how it will be used.

The key to the scholarship essay is that it is a personal narrative, reflecting your experiences and goals. DO NOT USE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, SUCH AS CHAT GPT, to write your essay. It is important that your personal voice come through!
2. Demonstration of financial status as evidenced by Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) PAGE 1 ONLY for the 2024-25 academic year, or letter of award from NPC Financial Aid Office or MyNPC page.
3. Your unofficial transcript from https://mynpc.npc.edu/ics indicating your degree intent; students without an NPC transcript must submit a degree plan (see academic advisor)
IMPORTANT: Please attach all required documents to the application form.
* The scholarship may be awarded again in the Spring 2025 semester, as long as the awardee maintains eligibility criteria and makes satisfactory progress in the NPC nursing program.
Application Deadline: Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. MST., for funding for the FALL 2024 semester.
Applications received after this date/time will not be accepted, regardless of why they are late. You are STRONGLY advised to submit your application well in advance of the deadline date!
