Accent Care is a healthcare provider in personal care, home health, and hospice and palliative care.  They are located in 30 states and have 246 sites including a site in Show Low.  There are several types of positions they hire for, but the most common is for care givers.  Their clients are located throughout our district, so one doesn’t necessarily have to live in or near Show Low.

Advanced Correctional Healthcare

Advanced Correctional Healthcare is the healthcare provider for Navajo County Jail in Holbrook. They also provide these services to other counties jails in other states. They are willing to provide a tour of the facility and provide job shadowing opportunities. You may reach out to DeDe Sparkman to arrange this. Job shadowing would be a great opportunity to see what the work environment is like, observe practicing nurses, and get your questions about being a nurse in a correctional facility answered.

Arizona State University, Edson College of Nursing & Health Innovation 

Brenna discusses the Concurrent Enrollment Program, which allows you to take some of your Bachelor of Science in Nursing courses with ASU while enrolled in the NPC Nursing Program. The program is flexible and allows you to complete a BSN faster than the traditional transfer method.

Arizona Indians into Medicine (University of Arizona)

The goal of Arizona Indians into Medicine is to recruit, support, and encourage Native American students to enter and succeed in the health professions at the U of A.  They help with all health professions including medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary science, and allied health fields.

Community Medical Services

Community Medical Services are outpatient substance abuse clinics that offer counseling, nursing, and medical services.  They have many clinics including one in Show Low.  They have various openings, but at the present time, they are looking for RN and LPN nurses.

Grand Canyon University (Nursing & Allied Health)

Matt McFadden is the contact person for NPC students wanting to transfer to GCU.  Matt discusses the nursing program as well as their program in health sciences for allied health professionals.  Those thinking about transferring should contact Matt McFadden sooner rather than later.

Haven Health has many locations throughout Arizona and the western U.S. They have a variety of positions and are a skilled nursing facility that provides both long- and short-term care. Some of their locations also have assisted living. This presentation focused on the facility at Lakeside, AZ.

Northwest Healthcare

Northwest Healthcare has four hospitals in the Tucson area. This opportunity is specifically for their nurse residency program, which is from 6-12 weeks. They have three cohorts a year: February, July, and October.

U.S. Navy Nurse Corps.

Ms. Amanda Welker presents on three programs, each offering a different pathway into the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps: Nurse Candidate Program, Active Duty, and Reserve. The Nurse Candidate Program is for current students pursuing their BSN. The Active Duty and Reserve options are for post-graduate BSN nurses with experience.
