October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Northland Pioneer College (NPC) cosmetology students are offering pink “peek-a-boos” for $5 a streak, with all proceeds going to breast cancer research.
All services are performed under the supervision of state-licensed cosmetology instructors. All three cosmetology training centers in Show Low, 1001 W. Deuce of Clubs, Winslow, 1400 E. Third St., and St. Johns, 955 W. 13th West (by the airport) will be offering the “peek-a-boos.”
The centers will also be offering discounted Halloween makeup services, including fake wounds and scars, for holiday party goers.
If you are interested in a career in cosmetology, spring classes begin on January 3, 2023. Potential students should apply for the program now and submit applications for financial aid no later than October 15 to have funds available by the spring semester. It can take 4 to 6 weeks to complete the process.
The general public can take advantage of reduced-price services performed by NPC students. Walk-ins are welcome or call ahead for an appointment. Hours in Show Low (532-6161) and Winslow (289-6561) are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with last chemical services at 1 and last haircut at 3:30. St. Johns (337-4867) hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
