The NPC Department of Visual and Performing Arts provides 573 square feet of dedicated exhibition space in the Talon Gallery and hosts a minimum of five rotating exhibits per academic year featuring work by local, regional, and national artists working in a variety of media. Gallery exhibits and events attract students and many visitors from the community each year and provide learning opportunities across the curriculum. Nationally recognized artists who exhibit in the Talon Gallery are invited as Visiting Artists to demonstrate their working process and/or lecture about their artwork in presentations that are open to both students and the public.
Past exhibitions have included: Ben Roti, Variation: Balance; Christine Golden, The Human Experience; Sarah Tancred and James Louks, Mementos, and Petrified Forest National Park: Selections from the Permanent Collection.
Northland Pioneer College also hosts a permanent collection of student artwork that exhibits qualities of excellence in both craftsmanship and concept. Artwork in this collection has been acquired through purchase awards during the Annual NPC Student Juried Art Show that is exhibited in the gallery each spring. Artworks from the NPC Permanent Art Collection are on display at several of the college’s campuses and center locations on a rotating basis.
