By utilizing outdoor spaces, we give children the chance to explore and interact with the natural world bringing new meaning, relevance, and inspiration to learning. In addition to new opportunities to explore language, math, and science concepts, time outdoors will help develop vital brain functions, increase movement and gross motor skills, and aid in promoting healthy lifestyles. In this session, we will learn why we must get children outside, some basics for setting up meaningful outdoor learning spaces, as well as tips to prepare for all seasons and weather.

World Café
The World Café is based on the idea that all of us have within us the creativity and wisdom to address even the most difficult challenges. Together, we are wiser than we are alone. Normally, a World Café would be held in person at tables. For our virtual event, we will have breakout rooms with a host in each. Each breakout room will be addressing a particular pressing question/topic relevant to the work of early childhood. Each participant may join or leave a breakout room at will and join any other at any time. This format will allow us to connect, network, and share ideas.
Possible topics include but will not be limited to:
- Applying the simple interactions discussed by keynote…
- How can we improve the access/availability to high quality child care
- Supporting families and during COVID-19
- The impact of isolation for children during COVID-19
- Supporting play as learning at home and in the classroom
