You should include 3 – 5 references who can verify your-on-the job performance. Former supervisors, former colleagues, clients, teachers and managers from organizations you volunteered for can all serve as a reference. BEFORE submitting your reference list, you'll want to ask each person for permission to use them as a reference. If you have asked them in the past for permission but it has been a while, you should contact them again and verify they are still willing to be a reference for you.
