The study and performance of music takes creativity, discipline and communication. Learning music is a meaningful and gratifying experience that enriches students of all ages. Although NPC does not have specific program of study for music, the College provides Music opportunities to enrich our local communities through performances of selections from various cultures, genres and generations. These opportunities include:
- One-on-one instruction for voice, instrument and composition.
- Participation in musical theatre productions.
- NPC's community choir group The Silver Creek Singers is open to all adults and teens 16 years and up who pass a basic choral audition.
- NPC provides support for the White Mountain Symphony Orchestra and the High Country Barbershop Chorus (four-part a cappella harmony), giving additional outlets for those with musical talents.
- For more information about this program, please contact an NPC Academic Advisor. Also, see the current NPC College Catalog and class schedule.

Work Environment
Musicians and singers often perform in settings such as concert halls, arenas and clubs. Musicians and singers who give recitals or perform in nightclubs travel frequently and may tour nationally or internationally. Some spend time in recording studios. There are many jobs in cities that have a high concentration of entertainment activities, such as New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago and Nashville.
Job Outlook
Despite the popularity of TV shows like American Idol and America's Got Talent, there will be tough competition for jobs because of the large number of people who are interested in becoming musicians and singers.
Articulations
NPC's performance music courses may transfer as electives to the state's three public universities. Check with an NPC academic advisor or AZTransfer.com, the online Course Equivalency Guide on which NPC courses are accepted for transfer credit. Always work with an academic advisor at the college or university you plan to attend to ensure courses you complete at NPC will transfer.
