All Kids College scholarships are provided by NPC Friends & Family, the nonprofit foundation that supports the mission and goals of Northland Pioneer College.
The scholarships provided by NPC Friends & Family cover up to $50 per child *not per class* for Kids College classes. The scholarship vouchers will be applied to the course fees for which a child is registered up to the $50 maximum amount. (Example: If a child's course cost is $30, the $30 will be covered by the voucher but the additional monies are not applicable.) Vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash value.
- There are three types of scholarships available.
- Students should apply for the scholarship that best meets their Kids’ College goals.
- Parents or guardians may submit an Ellie’s Empowering scholarship application on behalf of a child.
- Every child who applies by the deadline will receive one scholarship.
- Each student will only receive one $50 voucher to be used toward Kids College class costs. Vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash value.
- Kids must be between the ages of 6-14 and a resident of Navajo or Apache county.
To apply follow the instructions below for each type of scholarship.
The STEM Scholarship allows students to take a class in one of the STEM disciplines: Science, technology, engineering or math. To apply, students need to write an age-appropriate paragraph describing what areas of STEM they are interested in and why they would like to take a Kids College STEM class at Northland Pioneer College. Parental help is encouraged, but work must be done solely by the student.
The Creative Side Scholarship allows students to take a class in art, performing arts, music, cooking, or any creative area. To apply, students should submit a digital photo of a piece of their own artwork and write an age-appropriate paragraph on why they love to show their creative side. "Artwork" is defined as any craft, expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. Parental help is encouraged, but work must be done solely by the student.
Ellie’s Empowering Scholarship can be used for any Kids College class. Applications for this scholarship come from a teacher, parent or other adult who wants to nominate a deserving student. The adult submits the application and writes a short explanation to express a need, whether educational or financial, to nominate a child. The adult who submits the application MUST assure the child they nominate will be able to attend class this summer. Once nominated, the child will be contacted and asked to write an age-appropriate paragraph expressing their desire to attend NPC Kids College.
