SNOWFLAKE — A winter-themed storytime and “twirly snowflake,” holiday pop-up card or 3-D paper ornament crafts await children, ages five to 12, at two free Discovery Nest activities at Northland Pioneer College’s Snowflake/Taylor – Silver Creek Campus library the week of December 11.

From 3 until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 11, NPC Librarian Luann Crosby will host a winter-themed storytime with picture book read-alouds, combined with a “twirly snowflake” craft activity for the children.

Then come back on Friday afternoon, December 15, between 1:30 and 3:30, to create a pop-up holiday card or 3-D paper ornament.

All are welcome to participate in these free Discovery Nest activities, but children must be accompanied by an adult over 18 at all times.

“When we offered Discovery Nest activities in June, they were very popular with children and adults,” notes Crosby. “We had 64 youngsters and 40 adults creating and learning about origami. The pop-up cards for Father's Day were a huge hit with the kids.”

For additional information about the Discovery Nest program, contact Luann Crosby, associate librarian, 536-6220. NPC's Snowflake/Taylor campus is located at 1611 S. Main St.
