Guardians of the Galaxy subbing for Wonder Woman

SNOWFLAKE — Superheroes have very busy schedules – appearances on late-night TV talk shows, comic book signings, personal appearances, and their regular superhero duties.

Well, Wonder Woman’s film agent messed up and didn’t get her on-screen appearance for Northland Pioneer College’s FREE Movie Night on Friday, August 25, on her iCalendar. After calling in a few favorites, the Guardians of the Galaxy agreed to fill in for her.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2

“Our fall calendar of movies and events was ready to drop into the mail when Swank Motion Pictures, who license our showings, notified me that Wonder Women was not going to be available for our August 25 date,” explained Dr. Michael Solomonson, chair of NPC’s Performing Arts Department. “Instead, we will be showing Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, released in May of this year.”

The film, based on the comic book series, is the 15th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and features an ensemble cast featuring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell.

Free Movie Nights offer our students and the community free admission to see some of the season’s hottest movies before they are released to the public on DVD,” explained Solomonson. This summer, the college upgraded the Performing Arts Center’s (PAC’s) projector to an ultra-high-definition laser source projector, displaying on the 20- by 30-foot screen.

Movies begin at 7 p.m. in the PAC’s main hall, located on the Snowflake/Taylor – Silver Creek Campus, 1611 S. Main in Snowflake. Reasonable-priced concessions are also available.

Additional Movie Nights are planned for Friday, September 15, Cars 3, and Friday, October 6, Spider-Man: Homecoming.

For additional information about the movie night showings, musical concerts and theatrical performances, visit www.npc.edu/PAC-shows, or call the Box Office, 536-6250, or Dr. Solomonson at 536-6217.
