SNOWFLAKE — Learn new recipes, techniques and skills in 3 noncredit cooking classes this fall at Northland Pioneer College’s Snowflake/Taylor – Silver Creek Campus, 1611 S. Main St.

Friday Night Out” cooking classes will whet your palate for Asian cuisine, spice up meal preparation for individuals and focus on gluten-free meal options. “Whether you’re on your first date or your 90th, just enjoying good times with a group of your friends, or a girls’ night out, we’ll be creating and enjoying some incredible food,” notes instructor Lorena Telford, who has been involved in the food service/hospitality industry for over 25 years, serving as a wedding/event planner and caterer.

“We will be working side-by-side as I guide you in creating the meal and memorable moments that are nothing short of amazing,” added Telford.

The Friday Night Out series begins on September 15, focusing on Asian Cuisine (reference HCT 099x-40). The October 13 class focusing on Meal Prep for Individuals (reference HCT 099x-41). Gluten-Free is the theme for the November 3 session (reference HCT 099x-42). All classes meet in the Student Center, room 131, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The per person cost for each class is $25, plus $5 paid directly to the instructor for supplies and food. You must register and pay the associated fees for each class individually. Sign up for these classes at least three days before the class starts to ensure it is not canceled due to insufficient enrollment. Register at any NPC location during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, or 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays.

Telford has spent time in England, and had the opportunity to do some catering there. Currently owner of Lorena’s Kitchen, she specializes in over 40 gourmet jams, jellies and spreads and does catering from box lunches to full-service meals. “I love cooking. It is a passion of mine, and I am constantly studying and learning to feed my love of all things food,” she says.
