Your donation to NPC Friends and Family before Noon on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 during Arizona Gives Day will be matched, dollar-for-dollar through a challenge grant from Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center.
“This means $10,000 in scholarships for the very deserving students of Northland Pioneer College,” explains Betsyann Wilson, executive director of NPC Friends & Family, the non-profit alliance providing scholarships and other tax-deductible support to NPC. “Arizona Gives Day is a powerful, 24-hour online giving experience that unites Arizonans around causes they believe in to build a better tomorrow.”
“If NPC Friends & Family raises $5,000 before Noon on Arizona Gives Day, April 4, Summit has agreed to match those donations, up to $5,000,” Wilson continues. “NPC Friends and Family is just one of many nonprofit organizations that ask for contributions from individuals and businesses in Navajo County communities. Consequently, the same givers get hit hard every year by more and more needy groups. Arizona Gives Day is a way for us to ask a lot of people to give a little, rather than asking a few people – often the same few people – to give a lot. It's like crowd funding!”
Arizona Gives Day is presented by the Alliance of Arizona Non-Profits and the Grant Maker's Forum, in conjunction with a variety of sponsors led by FirstBank.
“This challenge grant is incredibly important, because it helps NPC Friends and Family leverage bonus money provided by AZ Gives Day corporate sponsors,” notes Wilson. These sponsors provide incentive cash prizes in categories such as Most Dollars Raised by Non-Profits. This category is divided into Small, Medium and Large non-profits, with the size of the nonprofit based on their annual budget. “In 2016, we received a $5,000 challenge grant from our friends at Frontier Communications. It was only our second Arizona Gives Day, and we were overwhelmed by the response we got!” Wilson says.
“We raised $22,201 in donations last year! $7,967 MORE than we raised in 2015!!!” said Wilson. “We ended up in fourth place on the state leader board for Small Non-Profits!!! This means we got a $5,000 BONUS, bringing our final total to $27,201.”
There were over 900 nonprofits registered in 2016. “NPC Friends and Family finished 24th overall, statewide, including small, medium and large groups,” adds Wilson.
“No matter how you look at it, NPC students won big!!!!” exclaims Wilson. “NPC Friends and Family makes life-changing college education accessible and affordable to students of Northland Pioneer College through scholarships. On Tuesday, April 4, please visit www.azgives.org/npcfriendsfamily to make a tax-deductible gift to NPC Friends and Family! Share this link on your favorite social media site!
