Partnerships help students achieve goals

A new partnership agreement between Northland Pioneer College and Arizona State University will allow students to complete their bachelor’s degree in as little as two semesters after earning their NPC degree.The concurrent enrollment agreement with ASU’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation was reviewed by the Navajo County Community College District Governing Board during their regular monthly meeting in Holbrook on November 21.

Empty Bowls raises $2,106

NPC’s third annual Empty Bowls community event on Friday, November 17, raised $2,106.95 for The Love Kitchen in Pinetop.“Empty Bowls is an international nonprofit grassroots effort by ceramicists and educators, working with the community, to create handcrafted bowls as a way to raise awareness of food insecurity in our communities,” explains Magda Gluszek, NPC art instructor and organizer of NPC’s Empty Bowls Project. 145 people attended the community event.

Northland Master Chorale

SNOWFLAKE — A variety of holiday favorites, from traditional English, French and African carols, to contemporary rap will be featured in the holiday concert by the Northland Master Chorale on Friday, December 1, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Northland Pioneer College Performing Arts Center, 1611 S. Main St.  Admission is $5 per person, or a non-perishable food item. All proceeds will go to a local food bank.

Discovery Nest offers book & crafts activities

SNOWFLAKE — A winter-themed storytime and “twirly snowflake,” holiday pop-up card or 3-D paper ornament crafts await children, ages five to 12, at two free Discovery Nest activities at Northland Pioneer College’s Snowflake/Taylor – Silver Creek Campus library the week of December 11.

Give Your Loved One a Unique, Exquisite Navajo Rug for the HolidaysIn a moving testament of lifelong friendship, an anonymous donor has gifted NPC Friends and Family with an exquisite, large and unusual Navajo rug. The donor was a college friend of late NPC District Governing Board member Pres Winslow, who passed away suddenly in June 2016.

Inaugural US Military Veterans Scholarship

Kevin Widner, SSG-Ret, of Nutrioso, is the first recipient of the NPC Friends and Family U.S. Military Veterans Scholarship. He will receive the $500 award in the Spring 2018 semester.
