Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree with three years’ sales and inventory or related experience.
  • Knowledge of products, materials, and publishers; methods.
  • Knowledge of federal and state compliance requirements related to college bookstore operations.
  • Knowledge of work flow procedural skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of desktop software application specifically MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with high degree of analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong grammar/spelling knowledge.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.


  1. Serves as liaison between district and third party vendor hosting and operating the virtual bookstore, NPC Online Bookstore.
  2. Coordinates with Deans, of the Instruction Division, to compile approved textbook adoption list for classes held each academic semester.
  3. Coordinates with vendor to establish timelines, develop new processes, and provide marketing materials.
  4. Schedules and coordinates with vendor to establish Fall and Spring book buyback periods.
  5. Coordinates with the Bursar to establish and maintain installment payments for textbook purchases by students.
  6. Maintains records for students using installment payments for textbook purchases and processes any credit due to students.
  7. Ensure virtual bookstore website is current and accurate for each academic semester.
  8. Verifies vendor invoices and initiates payment authorization.
  9. Maintains NPC Online Bookstore scholarship from eCampus.
  10. Address student, staff and vendor inquiries and problems associated with bookstore operations.
  11. Ensure all records for bookstore operations are well organized and maintained in accordance with record retention requirement.
  12. Manage the budget for bookstore operations, including sales projects.
  13. Attends and participates in meetings related to bookstore operations.
  14. Ensures compliance with vendor contract.
  15. Maintain standard policies and procedures for bookstore operations.
  16. Ensures compliance with federal and state compliance requirements related to college bookstore operations, including the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA).
  17. Attends professional development training related to bookstore operations.
  18. Assist with annual audit functions, prepare statements and schedules and reconciliation of accounts.
  19. Maintains a positive collaborative relationship with all internal and external clients.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills Required

Perform accounting procedures, analyze financial data, reconcile accounts and maintain accurate records. Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under time constraints, manage priorities and meet deadlines and goals. Possess the ability to communicate and work with diverse groups. Ability to operate standard office equipment and use applicable software applications. Ability to work in a diverse multi-cultural environment. Ability to read and comprehend the English language sufficiently in order to undertstand written and verbal information. Ability work with minimal supervision.

Required License/ Certification

Must possess a valid driver's license.


Initial salary range of $14.28 to $16.08 per hour depending on education and experience.
